History
In the fall of 1993, six amateur flute players began making music in a basement, with a dream of becoming a flute choir. Realizing they needed guidance, they asked flutist Brenda Fedoruk to attend a few rehearsals. Under Brenda’s leadership until she decided to “pass the baton” at the end of the 2019-20 season, the Capilano Flute Choir has grown and brought the joy of flute ensemble music to its own amateur members and to audiences throughout the Lower Mainland. In the fall of 2020, the Capilano Flute Choir was pleased to welcome Mark Takeshi McGregor as its new Music Director. In the 2021-22 season, in-person rehearsals moved to Pacific Spirit United Church in Vancouver, where the ensemble still rehearses today. In the 2022-23 season, Thomas Law joined the ensemble as the Associate Music Director, eventually taking on the role of Music Director in the 2023-24 season.
